X - Threads

X - Threads connects your X (Twitter) account so your agents and AI agent can pick up public mentions of your account and reply inside the thread they came from.

This channel is currently in Beta testing. Don't connect a main, public-facing account — use a test or secondary account until the channel is generally available.

Overview​

Once connected, the platform watches for posts that mention your account and pulls in the replies beneath them. Each thread becomes a conversation in the Inbox, so a public exchange with several people is handled in one place instead of scattered across notifications.

Two things work differently here compared with a one-to-one channel such as WhatsApp:

  • A conversation is a thread, not a person. Several people can post in the same thread, and every one of their posts lands in the same conversation. The sender's handle and profile picture appear on each message so you can tell who said what.
  • Replies are positioned. When you reply, your reply is posted under the specific post you were reading, so the public thread keeps the shape your customers see.

Who it's for​

  • Admins connect the X account and choose whether a new thread reply should trigger a flow.
  • Agents read and reply to threads from the Inbox.

Connect your X account​

  1. On the switcher, click Channels.

  2. Click Social, then click X - Threads.

  3. Click Connect your X account. A pop-up opens for X to authorise the connection.

    Allow pop-ups for the site before you start. If pop-ups are blocked, the platform shows Please allow pop-ups for this site to connect your X account.

  4. Sign in to X and approve the requested permissions. The pop-up closes on its own and the channel shows the connected Account and Name.

New mentions are picked up roughly once a minute, so a new thread can take up to a minute to appear in the Inbox.

Handle threads in the Inbox​

Open the Inbox and select an X conversation.

  • The thread overview is the read-only front page of a whole thread. It shows the original post and the top-level replies, and lets you jump into any branch.
  • A branch is the conversation you actually work in. Open a branch to see its full exchange, including your AI agent's replies, and to reply yourself.
  • Replies that don't address your account are still captured so you have the context, but they don't wake your AI agent.

When you send a reply as an agent, it posts exactly as you typed it — the platform doesn't add an @handle for you, so you decide who to mention. (Replies sent by your AI agent do prepend the handle.)

Trigger a flow on a new thread reply​

By default a reply arrives as a normal message and your AI agent answers it. If you want a reply to start a specific flow instead, enable the event.

  1. On the connected X - Threads channel, click Events.
  2. Turn on xthread-reply.

The event fires when someone replies directly to a post published by the connected X account. Replies nested deeper inside the thread do not trigger it — those continue as normal messages.

Disconnect​

Disconnecting removes the channel and revokes the access the platform holds on your X account. The recurring check for new mentions stops at the same time.
