Connect to subdomain & customize branding

In the knowledge base settings, you can manage your site's name, URL, favicon, and more.

Businesses would generally want to host their knowledge base right within their website making it easier for their customers to access.

For example, docs.yellow.ai is the official knowledge base for all Yellow.ai products.

Every inbox account comes with a free autogenerated subdomain provided by Yellow.ai where the knowledge base articles will be hosted. It will roughly be in the format of www.<botname/kbname>.yellow.ai.


1. Connect Knowledge base to a custom subdomain#

To be hosted the knowledge base in your custom domain, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Inbox > Settings > Knowledge base settings.
  2. Click Connect a custom domain.

  1. Click Next.

  1. Enter your company's URL.

  1. Once the CNAME record is generated, copy & add this record to your domain configuration page on the domain registrar.

The place to add these records will vary based on which domain hosting service you use. Here are the links for some of the common domain registrars:

  1. If you are not sure that you can go about configuring this by yourself, click the Share with tech team button, copy the content shown and send it to your teaching team.

  1. After you've added the record in your domain registrar, click Submit & verify. This will start the domain verification process.

  1. Once the domain is verified, we will issue a free SSL certification for that subdomain to protect your customer information from malicious.
  2. You can return to this page to check if your domain is secured.

2. Customize banner branding#

To customize your site’s banner, logo, and favicon to your brand, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Inbox > Settings > Knowledge base settings.
  2. Click Edit branding.

  1. You can customize the following:
    • Change Banner theme(select color) for background, icons, and help question.
    • Enter a help question. Ex: How can we help you, Search here, etc.
    • Enter a website link which will be visible on the header to redirect users to it.
    • Upload a square image (150x150) as site logo and favicon (a small icon next to your site title).
